close to many restaurants for alternative evening meal....
bedroom walls to thin ....(next door snoored most of the night). ... very limited parking ... the hotel feels tired
Staff were excellent in particular the lady working reception bar .. can't remember her name though ... bar area really nice and food very good ..incredible value for money.
The receptionist was friendly. There was an iron and ironing board in every room.
The cooked breakfast was dreadful small and very poor quality; while the service was unfriendly. We decided to have breakfast else where on the second day. We hoped to try the restaurant but on both the evenings we stayed there were private parties in the restaurant. We don’t mind loud parties but it did mean it was unpleasant to sit in the bar (which was also grim) and difficult to sleep as our room was above the restaurant. The room and bathroom could do with a refurbishment, some shocking bodge jobs. Individually I could forgive these displeasures but put all theses things together, bad food, noise and unfriendly staff we thought The Rothwell House Hotel the worst we have ever stayed in – Maybe with have just been lucky!
* The food in the Bar was very good, and a reasonable price. * Breakfast was also very good, and well worth the extra £5!. * Rooms are tidy, and clean with plenty of tea, coffee and milk. * Central town location, with plenty of shops. * Ideal if your on a budget, or looking for an overnight stay on Business / passing through. * Staff were OK.
* No Double Glazing on the windows - please consider fitting some, because being Saturday night, it was very noisy with cars racing up and down the street and partygoers shouting into the early hours (01:30)! * Curtains not thick enough, and did not fit properly - curtain rail was too small, so let in all the light from the buildings security lights below. * Car Park is very, very small, you can get blocked in very easily, but there are some parking spaces across the road from the hotel - if your happy in leaving your car in the street or need to leave very early! * No basic information in the room - How to connect to Wireless? - What time is Breakfast? - Bar / Restaurant Menu? etc.
the location for us was great. the staff is there strongest point. the hotel was always clean and bright.
i loved the four bed poster room we stayed in.
There wasnt anything not to like about the Hotel.
The four poster room was great a real treat such a comfortable bed and warm room
The breakfast was awful it was served from 9am til 10 am ,we went down at 9am but nothing was ready the water boiler did not get the right heat at all over that hour. there was a large glass fridge with dishes of jams butter and sauces in it with 2 jugs of milk. the orange juice cooler was almost empty and it tasted off. the cooked breakfast was swimming in beans, the tomatoes tasted bitter. there was one piece of bacon and one sausage which i think was deep fried. hash browns were ok as were the fried eggs. one thing about the room there was no mirror in the room to use while drying your hair.
clean bedding, good supply of tea/coffee/milk
limited parking, no hot water in morning for shower. very shabby decoration in room (artex walls) quite dangerous window fixings loose, uncovered light fittings in ceiling, very cramped room for a four poster bed.
the room rate is value for money room was clean and comfortable if a bit dated but had all your needs TV coffee and plenty of clean towels. Breakfast was very good and service was cheery and pleasant
Building fine but in need of inside re-decoration and new carpets
it was dirty in the bathroom-shelf had toothpaste all over, iron un-clean,shower surrounds and lino dirty. not good p.r. by staff! no sign at breakfast or no one to let us know what the procedure was for breakfast
Sensibly priced, being done up, will be good when finished.
Bedroom good , en-suite- poor. Staff not trained behind bar, ice & lemon for G&T not available!
Very nice helpful staff. Although slightly dated, the room I stayed in was very comfortable. Comfy bed in a quiet location. Very peaceful nights sleep. I stayed in Room 1. The hotel is being updated, which is wise, as the corridors to the rooms need some TLC. however, it appears that this is being dealt with. On the whole, very good.
No it was absolutely fine, for the price.
Clean, Looks Nice & polite staff.
Staff a bit intermitent, only 5 that we saw in 2 days. Some not really understanding what we were asking. No atmosphere, Shame as the room was a good family room. Rothwell not very exciting. Did not stay for the second night.
It was fairly close to the Burghley horse trials.
It was very dirty, sink filthy and not washed......hairs on the sink, yuck!! The carpets also were dirty!! There is also very few spaces to park and its double yellow outside on the street.
No mention made of being re-furbished when booking made. Room very basic - no cupboards, wardrobes, clock or telephone. Breakfast advertised as being from 8a.m. to 10 a.m. but staff only arrived at 8 a.m. so had to wait until 8.15. Church nearby has bells ringing every 15 minutes.
